Guiding

Principles

While our beliefs help form the foundation of how we approach counseling, we welcome people of all faiths, beliefs, and walks of life.

We believe in God the Father, the Almighty, maker of heaven and earth and of all that is, seen and unseen. We believe that the one true God is the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, three distinct persons, but of one and the same divine essence, equal in power, equal in eternity, and equal in majesty.

We believe that all people are created with dignity and value in the image of God to live in a vital relationship with God. However, through our sin (inability to live by God’s moral standards), we break our intended relationship with God and as a result, experience the destructive consequences of that broken relationship, spiritually and socially. Out of God’s great love for all people, He sent us His only son, Jesus Christ, to rescue us from those consequences and restore our broken relationship with God and others, through Christ’s sacrificial death on the cross. We believe in the resurrection of the crucified body of our Lord Jesus, and that blessed hope, His personal return.

We believe that God’s free gift of grace by faith is available to all who would receive it and that when we do, He transforms us. We believe that the Holy Spirit regenerates, indwells, and seals all believers at the time of conversion and gives spiritual gifts to believers for maturity and service within the body of Christ, that is, the Church. We believe that as followers of Jesus, we are His image-bearers and that He has called us to live lives of freedom, joy, and celebration for all that He has done for us.

We believe in the divine inspiration, integrity, and final authority of the Bible as the Word of God. We believe that Scripture is living and active, and rely on biblical teachings and principles as a framework for therapeutic interventions. We believe that God’s unchangeable Biblical message needs to be presented in relevant and understandable ways to the people of our community, free of religious jargon and filled with the Gospel message of hope and love.

We believe that God designed us for community and investment in relationships and that He has given us the gift of unity with other believers in a local church. We believe in the importance of worship, accountability, serving others, and furthering His kingdom by sharing the Gospel with all nations.

We believe in the sanctity of marriage and the sanctity of human life and believe in the importance of doing all that we can to preserve and protect both. We believe that our pain, choices, and past circumstances do not have to define us and that there is always hope and redemption available.

We believe that merely achieving goals is not as sustainable for lifelong change as changing daily habits and establishing improved systems. Getting to the root of the problem helps us move from shifting our focus on the outcome we are trying to achieve and toward who we want to become.

Transformation is possible – you don’t have to stay stuck.
